Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! We welcome you 2010!

So far, it's been bitterly cold and several of the gifts from Santa are sitting in the garage because it is just too darn cold to do anything outside! We still have a good amount of snow in our front yard from the "Blizzard 2009" escapade on Christmas Eve. I have never seen horizontal snow, but I did on that day. Alot of it! It changed all of our plans, but I was thankful for my boys and a warm house to cuddle in for the night.

My stinky boys are doing great. K-man is attempting to get back into the swing of school even though it was cancelled today due to power outages. J-Dub is an onery little thing. It is hard not to laugh when he sasses, but we are making him mind and attempting to teach him respect. Potty training has its moments. Still not there, but getting closer. I. Hate. Poopy. Diapers. No kidding, especially from him! :) My little Wy-Wy is growing like a weed. He weighs 15 lbs and has started eating rice cereal. I know this will make him a chunky monkey! Smiles all the time and melts my heart...he sho' does! AND...he gave me an early Christmas present of sleeping through the night!!! Makes a world of difference people!

I am enjoying not having any class assignments to turn in or papers to write or sitting through a lecture. Ahhh...bliss. However, I do believe that I will be applying for a doctorate program this spring with the hopes to begin my coursework in the fall. Who knows, one day you may be addressing me by Dr. Pendleton. I will accept Doc....

Other than that, we are trying very hard to eat healthy and somewhere in there start a workout routine. I have no choice if I want to keep up with these stinky boys! :)

Too Good Not to Share

WARNING: If you're squimish about stories about poop...stop reading...but do note, it's not a graphic story.

Eric and the boys (aka Stinky Boys Club) met my father-in-law on Tuesday night to take their Grampa out for dinner for a belated Father's Day Celebration. Of course, in true K-man fashion, as soon as the dinner had been served, K-man had to go to the bathroom. (This is Eric's responsibility since society seems to think only Women's Bathroom can have changing stations, the tradeoff is once they are potty-trained, Eric takes them! See how that works.... :) ). Anyway...

Once they get into the bathroom, Eric asks K-man if he has to pee or poop. Of course, K-man has to poop. Eric said we were in there forever, I mean a looooonnngg time. Eric told K-man,

"K-man, you have to hurry. We haven't even been able to see Grampa very long cause we are in here. You need to do a "speedpoop"!" (I don't know...that's what he said.)

K-man looked at his Daddy and in his most serious voice said,
"Daddy, that's not my superpower! That's not the kind of superhero I am!" Eric threw his head back and laughed. K-man bathroom stories....always good for a good laugh. Happy weekend!

I'll pass on the sugar and the carbs...

I guess you can tell by the title that I pretty much have gestational diabetes. Oh joy...oh bliss! Diet and fingersticks here I come. As one of my best pals told me earlier this week, the silver lining is I won't have as much wait to lose once the little bambino gets here. That's good since I will be in my sister's wedding four weeks later! And that's all I have to say about that...

Commencement went well. We were in and out of there in no more than two hours! I don't know if you have ever had the opportuntity to see the hooding ceremony for doctoral candidates, but it is pretty impressive. Makes me want to jump right uo and go for my doctoral degree. Sure does....I will wait a bit though for my sanity!!!!

K-man is taking a trip this weekend with his grandparents to go see his cousins in Texas. Always a great time for the K-man and this time little cousin Code-man gets to go to!!! YIPPEE!!! Stayin' in a hotel and swimming...what more can two little boys ask for you say???? Two more Texas cousins to make the fun complete! J-Dub will miss his brother, but it will be good to have some time with little guy and mama and daddy. If only it wouldn't rain....

Here's a video of me walking across the stage. The sounds a little iffy...
EDIT: I can't get the video up from work. I guess I will add sometime over the weekend. Check back!

May Happenings!

I walk tomorrow folks! YES!!!! It's been a long road and I am not quite done with my coursework yet but will be on July 31st! YIPEE!!!! OSU doesn't have a summer graduation so all summer grads walk in the Spring. $53 for my cap and gown. I think I am going to find a week in August and wear it everyday to work. $10/day sounds more worth it than $26.50 an hour. Sheesh....

Things are busy here. K-man is finishing up Kindergarten and will attend a summer daycamp this summer that he is super pumped about. Sweet J-Dub talks more and more everyday. Let me tell you, this kid is hilarious! He cracks me up everyday! We are beginning to operate in the 'terrible twos' mode. Ummhmm, the No's have begun and the attitude to go with it. He has seen some movement on the potty training front and will go anytime you ask does he need to potty. He does not, however, know when he has to go. That is the next step.

Things are moving right along with baby #3. I had to take the glucose test early since I had gestational diabetes with J-Dub. No surprise here - I failed. Three hour test tomorrow. Not looking forward to that. Not. One. Bit. Oh well, we will roll with it.

J-Dub is really getting into praying at night with our family. K-man says the prayer and we all copy what he says. J-Dub gets the last word in while peeking through squinted eyes. I am trying to get it on videotape, but haven't been real successful to this point. The other night Eric and I were eating at the dinner table after the boys were finished. J-Dub pulled up in K-man's chair and was trying to convince us for a "bite". As we were talking I asked him if he could sing Jesus Loves Me with me and I started to sing. He folded his hands and closed his eyes through the whole song. Brought tears to this Mama's eyes. It sure did. Thank you God for the glimpse of you in his heart!

Have a great weekend everyone and don't forget your Mom's!

It's time for an update!

WOW! I can't believe it's been a month since the last update! Sorry folks, it's been a bit crazy. J-Dub was sick, sick, sick a few weeks ago. I had to miss three days of work to take care of him. High fever and a horrible cough. We finally were able to get some antibiotics after three days of fever. This kiddo was seriously down. No eating. No playing. Just wanted Mommy to hold him. Yes...fun...I know.

We finally received our proofs and pics of the family photo shoot. Can you say awesome???? The pics are soooo good. We really love our little guys and enjoy spending so much time with our boys. God has blessed our family so much.

K-man is busy learning in Kindergarten. He is such a smart little guy. Sunday on the way home from church he was telling us the story about the picture he had drawn of the Sunday School lesson. It went something like this:

K-man what was your story about today?

It was about Jesus walking on the water. Do you want to see my picture?

Yes! Great picture. Who is this guy down in the water up to his neck?

That's Peter. He didn't watch Jesus and fell in.

Oh I see and then what happened?

The electric eel grabbed him and bit him!

Ummm....I don't think that's what the bible says....

I know...but that's what really happened.

Good one....as we giggle in the front seat at our son's great imagination.

J-Dub now says hi. He also is smart as a whip and anytime he thinks he is about to get caught doing something he shouldn't he stops, smiles, and says "Hi!". Good try little guy....but not good enough!

Hope you are all doing great!

That's my guy!

My fab hubby was the Chef of the Day at the Chef's table at Chesapeake. This is what he made:
Roasted Beef Tenderloin w/ a wild mushroom demi glace
Rosemary Mashed Potatoes
Grilled Asparagus
Chocolate Chip Pecan Bread Pudding with Kentucky Bourbon Sauce

YUMMY! Whose ready for lunch????

We had a great time in Dallas and Jana was an exceptional host. She has a dashing beau that she is sporting and he was a very good sport with all of us. We will convert him to an OU fan before it is all over! BOOMER SOONER!

I have a very busy weekend with all of the school assignments that I must complete before September 9th, OU watch party, and a family picture shoot. Yes ladies and gentleman, J-Dub finally has a limited number of bruises on his forehead and we are going to attempt his one year pics. K-man is loving Kindergarten. I love it when he comes home singing new songs that he learns in music. Yesterday, he took his lunch for the first time. No tacos for this kiddo - no sir! The other day he came home and told me he had "snake fingers" for lunch aka steak fingers. I asked him if he liked them and he said... "NO! They tried to make us eat brains inside there!"
Uhhh...what??? My friend Caden said it looked like snake brains.
Thanks Caden. Thanks. Alot.

Sickness and power surges

Sickness! Sickness I say, sickness!!!

Jack was sick from Saturday evening until yesterday. Ummm...it was not fun! Not.one.little.bit! He ran fever and had what Caleb likes to call "the scribbles". I am sure you can figure out what Caleb is referring to here. Anyway, in all my years of being around little babies and changing diapers, I have never seen such horrible "scribbles" in my life. It was oozing from the waistband of the diaper and the legs. It got on his clothes, my foot, the floor...everything! Ewwww.... I am happy to report that Jack is feeling better today and that all scribbles have been thoroughly cleaned up and sanitized accordingly.

My home computer is sick too. BOO!!! Mama not happy! I tried to get get online yesterday only to find the dreaded black screen with white cursor. OK...reboot. Nothing. One more time for posterity. Nothing again. I guess I need to head to Geeks R Us to check on the computer so I can stay connected at home.

It is always disheartening when you hear that dreaded sound in the middle of the night. You know, the sound of silence when everything electrical has quit working, particularly the ceiling fans and the air. Then you always look over just to make sure you aren't hallucinating and check the alarm clock. Of course, it was flashing. Luckily it came back on fairly quickly. It never fails that your electricity goes off at the worst possible time. It always has to be when it is a million degrees outside or when it is thirty below zero. Why is that?

It' another hot one here folks! 105!!! YIKES!!!!
